It is a mixture of all these attributes we chose the study of birds as one of the axes of evaluation of our agricultural activities. If birds are well … the fields are healthy. But it was not a utilitarian use only. Peru, develops land where one hundred percent of our production activities, shared with Colombia first in the number of bird species in the world, with more than 1830 registered and regularly sighted. This data on birds in Peru, possibly widespread in specialized media, is little known and even less valued, capitalized or promoted by most citizens and Peruvian authorities. The study that we undertook ten years ago in the preservation of our beautiful and valuable natural resources of Peru Amazon.

If there is anywhere an ornithologist would want to be born…..that place is Peru. The enormous amount of birds which exist on the coast, the desert, the plains, the highlands, the mountains, the forests, the lakes and even the parks in the cities are a dream come true.

Amidst all of this, the life of a naturalist is full of dreams and discoveries. They dream that their desires come true because a biologist who doesn´t pursue his passion doesn´t achieve the strength or hope to get to the bottom of nature´s most hidden secrets. The asparagus plantations, the vineyards and avocado plantations are searched until every bird is found which, hidden in the foliage, carry out a function in the ecosystem and interact with the other organisms.

And works hard, from the first, light, of dawn, when sparrows sing between the pepper trees and the carobs, until well into night time when the owls sing the melody of life in the shadows. Well, that´s what we have done, dream and work during ten years of uninterrupted labor in this marvelous project about the birds which live on the agricultural ecosystems of the Agrokasa farms.
Since the 20th Century, the need to provide special protection to the species and wild areas, as well as the dawn of a new conservation conscience has generated conditions for the Peruvian Government to make diverse agreements for the conservation of its biota. In this context international conventions have been signed, legal norms have been promulgated to establish protected areas and national lists of fauna which are threatened or in danger have been updated.
