Day 1: Airport in Puerto Maldonado – Canopy Walkway .

Your adventure begins with a welcome at Puerto Maldonado Airport. From there, we travel to the river port and navigate along the Madre de Dios and Tambopata Rivers to our jungle lodge, located in the heart of the Amazon rainforest.

After lunch, we begin one of the highlights for birdwatchers:

The Canopy Walkway, a network of suspended bridges that allows you to explore the rainforest canopy from 30 to 40 meters (100–130 ft) above the forest floor. From this privileged vantage point, you’ll have the chance to observe species that are rarely seen from the ground.

The afternoon is an excellent time to spot macaws, toucans, cotingas, and soaring raptors taking advantage of thermal currents.

After dinner, we enjoy a night walk to discover a different side of the Amazon, where owls, nightjars, tree frogs, snakes, and nocturnal mammals become active.

Day 2:Tambopata Birding Peru Trips Sandoval Lake Reserve & Natural Paradise .

Early in the morning, we travel to the spectacular Lake Sandoval, one of the most important ecosystems within Tambopata National Reserve.
Our hike passes through pristine rainforest before reaching the peaceful oxbow lake, where we quietly paddle traditional canoes.

The silence allows excellent opportunities to approach wildlife without disturbing its natural behavior.

Lake Sandoval is famous for its healthy population of Giant River Otters, as well as black caimans, monkeys, turtles, and an extraordinary diversity of aquatic birds.
During the afternoon, we continue exploring different areas of the lake before returning to the lodge.

In the evening, we enjoy the Amazonian night sky followed by another nocturnal wildlife walk.

Day 3: Puerto Maldonado & Tambopata National Reserve .

After breakfast, we explore rainforest trails in search of understory birds while learning about giant rainforest trees and medicinal plants traditionally used by Amazonian communities.
Later, we continue deeper into Tambopata National Reserve, one of Peru’s most biodiverse protected areas.

Upon arrival at our new lodge, we climb the region’s highest observation tower, an outstanding location to watch macaws, toucans, parrots, and birds of prey flying over the forest canopy at sunset.
