Day 1: Cusco to Birdwatching ollantaytambo Machupicchu .
Embark on an early morning adventure as we journey from Cusco to Machu Picchu by train and bus, a scenic 4-hour ride. Along the way, marvel at Torrent Ducks and White-capped Dipper gracefully gliding on the Urubamba River. As we approach our destination, the mystical Machu Picchu, we’ll pause our birdwatching to immerse ourselves in a guided tour of this ancient archaeological marvel. Look up, and you’ll spot White-tipped Swifts soaring above. After a satisfying lunch, we’ll seek out the Inca Wren, often found in the bamboo surroundings of the ruins, and then venture into the Urubamba gorge for late afternoon birdwatching. We’ll spend the night in Aguas Calientes. (Lunch and Dinner included)
Day 2: Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo .Birdwatching ollantaytambo Machupicchu .
Our morning is dedicated to birdwatching along the railway track by the Urubamba River. In the remnant cloud forest, we’ll keep our eyes peeled for rare species such as Sclater’s and Bolivian Tyrannulets, Silver-backed Tanager, Pale-eyed Thrush, Masked Fruiteater (endemic), Black-streaked Puffbird, Oleaginous Hemispingus, and Capped Conebill. Mixed flocks will treat us to a colorful array of tanagers, and the endemic Green and White Hummingbird is a common sight here. After a late lunch, we’ll board the tourist train for a return journey to the historic town of Cusco (or Ollantaytambo) for a well-deserved rest. (Breakfast and Lunch included)
